When you first meet Joshua Brown, you might first notice his impressive array of ink and piercings. But it’s another set of characteristics, the ink that flows from his pen combined with the piercing nature of his aggressive music that will win you over.

The straightforward message found in Brown’s songs comes directly from the struggles he has faced in his young life, struggles found in the midst of what casual observers would deem as success. Brown was the frontman of Full Devil Jacket, which was signed to Island/Def Jam when Brown was 22. An EP and full-length project followed, as did tours in support of Nickelback, Fuel and Creed.

But dissatisfaction with that lifestyle, underscored by a drug overdose in 2000, led Brown to disband Full Devil Jacket, and to turn his life over to serving Christ. Brown withdrew completely from the music business, sharing his experiences and newfound wholeness with anyone who would listen.
